The Crow and The Tree. Pere Villez Guitar Performance

"The Crow and the Tree" is a nod to the European early to mid century dark classical guitar sounds of Rodney Bennett, Frank Martin and the later Koshkin works from the 1990s (Princes Toys). I add expansive granular electronic elements and crafts the final production in such a manner as to create the warm, panoramic and evocative sound world reminiscent of early 1980s ECM recordings. These recordings present two exquisite sounding instruments, the rare Alberto Pantoja Martin "Estrellita' from 1992, of which only two exist and a more recent Boulder Creek ECL-4, which uses a unique suspended bracing system for incredible tone, harmonic stability and sustain.

The production uses Logic Pro X Alchemy granular engine.

The album includes a free 73 page eBook called "The Phrygian Notebook. It contains one chapter dedicated to 173 open string guitar chords related to the Phrygian family of modes. The eBook includes separate MIDI and Guitar Pro files for all 23 chapters. Available here:
