Volkswagen
German automaker company Volkswagen announced in 2018 that it will invest $4 billion by 2025 to reinforce its digital ecosystem. That’s a massive investment, which will very likely enable Volkswagen to appeal to consumers as the whole automotive industry undergoes a giant digital transformation, and also, it will help the company take on competitors who are launching similar strategies.

The goal is quite straightforward here: Volkswagen wishes to shift from a traditional automaker to a whole mobility service provider. As a result of the investments, they say, from 2020 onwards, five million new Volkswagen brand vehicles per year are planned to be connected to the Internet of Things. Besides that, they plan to introduce various mobility solutions to the consumers in the hope that they will soon become integrated into their daily lives.

IKEA
Then there’s IKEA, which a lot of us adore, I’m sure. Unsurprisingly, the Swedish furniture giant is also taking steps to stay relevant and competitive in the future. By providing highly innovative and valuable experiences for both its online and offline customers, IKEA has really taken the first steps on the path of transforming into a technology-driven company.

LEGO
LEGO is one of the toys that people equally love in their childhood, and later on when they’re all grown up. But what lies beneath the overwhelming success of the company? For one thing, LEGO is brilliant, and playing with LEGO sets allows us to express our creativity and use our imaginations in a whole lot of highly engaging ways. But there’s another reason we are such fans of the brand. And that might be that LEGO managed to appeal to today’s digitally-savvy consumers too. How? Well, by knowing that the community that their consumers make up is worth putting first.
