Straumann BLX implant: Anterior Implant with Guided Bone Regeneration - 4K

Описание к видео Straumann BLX implant: Anterior Implant with Guided Bone Regeneration - 4K

The surgery is 4 months post extraction of 21 for the placement of an implant with Guided Bone Regeneration.

The implant used in this Surgery is a 12x4.5 mm Straumann BLX SLAactive, a new implant that at first sight looks rather..."un-straumann"..!

The implant has a very different design of threads to the classical Straumann implants, resulting in very high primary stability and final insertion torque value.

Notice that in this case , although we used all the drills up to the new 3.7 osteotomy drill, the 4.5 mm implant is finally seated with 80 Ncm torque..! (5:25). Furthermore, note this torque is achieved despite a significant apical fenestration (4:10), which means that unlike for example BLT implant, the BLX does not rely on the apical segment only to achieve high primary stability. I have never been a fun of high insertion torque, but I have to admit this was unlike any other implant in terms of primary stability. Now time (and research !) will show what this means!

Despite that 4.5 mm sounds like a wider diametre than the 4.1 of BL and BLT, the implant is actually skinnier at the prosthetic platform, as the colar is only 3.5 mm, which is a welcome feature for the aesthetic zone.

Furthermore, the whole workflow is significantly improved compared to the previous Straumann implants, with the introduction of some more drill diametres, bone cutters and also a needle drill, all welcome additions that add versatility to the workflow and allow more tailor-made osteotomies.

My personal favourite: the long awaited "skinny" healing abutments with 2.5 mm gingival height, which also now comes with the same emergence profile of the "skinny" temporary abutments as well! I hope Straumann will introduce such healing abutments and even more the temporary abutments for the BL and BLT series as well!
