Litter-Robot 4 with LitterHopper™ Quick Start Guide

In this video, we will show you how to easily setup and understand the full use of the new Litter-Robot 4 LitterHopper.

The Litter-Robot 4 LitterHopper is designed to automatically maintain the optimal Litter-Robot 4 litter level by intermittently refilling the globe with litter. If the sensors determine the litter levels are below optimal, LitterHopper will dispense litter into the globe during the next clean cycle. Litter will be added only when needed and only during the next clean cycle.

💡When placing your Litter-Robot, keep in mind:
Use the back handle when picking up Litter-Robot 4
Keep Litter-Robot 4 indoors where it’s cool and dry
Place the unit on a firm, level surface near an outlet
If placed on a carpet it’s recommended to use carpet tray accessory to improve weight readings (available on Litter-Robot.com)


💡Key things to know about LitterHopper:
Litter will only be added when needed and only during the next clean cycle
Any time you affect the weight or placement of your Litter-Robot 4 (emptying waste drawer, adding/removing litter, cleaning or moving unit) press the Reset button to ensure Litter-Robot is calibrated and operating accurately
Whisker will automatically update the firmware in your Litter-Robot 4 to ensure the best operation possible


⚙️Installing LitterHopper anti-tip guard:
Remove the waste drawer from the base and set it aside
Tip the unit forward and rest it face down on the bezel (use a towel or cloth to prevent scratching the bezel)
Snap the two hooks on the anti-tip guard into the two holes on the bottom rear of the Litter-Robot 4 Base.
Note that a wire runs through the two holes. Gently pull down the wiring to the lower end of the holes and leave enough room at the top for the hooks to insert completely.
While Litter-Robot 4 is still facedown, insert the anti-tip guard into the small holes near the power jack pocket of the base (the wiring in place will not interfere with installation)
Grab the bonnet hinge on the base
Press the anti-tip guard into the small holes until each side snaps securely into place
Ensure there are no gap between the anti-tip guard and the base
Route the power cord over the anti-tip guard Not Under and plug the power jack back into Litter-Robot
Tip Litter-Robot back onto its feet - make sure the power cord is not trapped under the anti-tip guard
Make sure the anti-tip guard is not touching the floor


⚙️Attaching the LitterHopper:
Reinstall the waste drawer
The LitterHopper attaches to the back of Litter-Robot 4 using two posts at the bottom of the LitterHopper
Litter-Robot 4 has two circular pockets on each side of the hinge at the back of the base and a slot at the back of the bonnet for the LitterHopper hook tab
Align the posts of the LitterHopper with the circular pockets and lower it into place
Verify the hopper has been installed properly to ensure a good electrical connection between the power plug and the power jack - the hook tab should engage with the slot in the bonnet, and there should be no gap between the hopper and the bonnet or between the hopper and the base.


🐈Adding litter:
Ensure you use clay-clumping litter or a litter type that is small enough to pass through the screen in the globe
Add litter inside the globe to just below the raised fill line (be careful not to overfill)
Remove the LitterHopper lid by squeezing the lid buttons together and lifting, then fill with fresh litter to the fill line
Replace the lid - make sure it’s securely attached to the LitterHopper


🔌Powering on Litter-Robot 4:
Plug Litter-Robot into the wall and power on
Any time you affect the weight or placement of Litter-Robot 4, ensure you press the Reset button to re-calibrate the sensors to operate properly


🖲️Activating the LitterHopper:
Press and hold both the Connect and Cycle buttons for 3 seconds
The control panel will flash white and the Hopper will dispense a small amount of litter, indicating the LitterHopper is enabled
You can also enable and disable the LitterHopper in the Whisker app
