I have a bag of scoured fleece, ready to be spun into yarn. It is perfect to experiment with. I have frozen yarn in ice (Dye Time #22    • Dye Time #22: Frozen Yarn! Ice Dyeing...  ) and I've frozen socks in ice (Dye Time #194    • Dye Time #194: Frozen Socks?! Socks F...  ) so this time I decided to freeze some fleece in ice. This is just another way to add liquid to what you're dyeing and I've not noticed any damage caused by the ice.

Once the ice had melted (it was January when I filmed this so it did take a long time) I heat set the fleece. I will be repeating this experiment in the summer months as I'd like the sun to start to set the dye to the fibre.

Fibre reactive dyes can be used on plant based fibre and animal based fibres. Acid dyes can only be used on animal based fibres.
