I had some pink dye left over from another project so, not wanting to waste any, I kettle dyed a double stranded sock blank which gave a beautiful pink background. I then decided to speckle on this with frozen acid dye from Dharma and black acid dye from DT Craft & Design in a low immersion set up. This means the speckles won't be sharp but will hopefully create something patchy and beautiful.

This is a double stranded sock blank, which means it has two strands of yarn knitted together. When unravelled, it will produce two matched 50g balls of yarn.

Fibre reactive dyes can be used on plant based fibre and animal based fibres. Acid dyes can only be used on animal based fibres.
