Trains at Newcastle - 18/07/2023

Filmed on 18/07/2023. So, time for the third and final station of the day and to complete our 'Three Tuesday's In A Row' here in the North East brings us to a rainy and soggy evening few hours at Newcastle (Season 10 Episode 22)

No freight through this station during our session but plenty in terms of passenger variety. Lumo Trains are in competition against the Airlines running fast services between London Kings Cross and Newcastle using their electric only Hitachi class 803 units. They only offer standard class seating but plenty of space available. Its been tested with a pairing of class 803 units making for 10 carriage trains which could be the future.

Transpennine Express are on a rocky road to say the least with them now being government owned after First Group lost the franchise. Especially, that their Newcastle to Manchester Piccadilly services could be coming to an end by December timetable changes to free up spare Nova 1's.
