Abstract:
In the 19th century, many Chinese people aspired to seek better opportunities overseas for various reasons. Hong Kong has played a crucial role as a transit port for these emigrants. However, their journey was often arduous and challenging. This lecture aims to shed light on the story of these emigrant labourers and the historical evidence that explains the role of Hong Kong.
