This book teaches us all the amazing steps and all the organisms that work
together to create healthy cocoa trees so we can enjoy lots of different kinds of
chocolate!

Everyone loves chocolate! But how many people actually know where chocolate
comes from? This delectable dessert comes from cocoa beans, which grow on cocoa trees in
tropical areas. Cocoa beans grow inside cocoa pods which come from flowers which come
from cocoas leaves which come from cocoa stems which grow from cocoa roots. These trees
couldn’t survive without the help of an assortment of rain forest critters such as a midge that
sucks pollen, an anole lizard that eats aphids, fungi that provide rich soil, and monkeys that
suck on cocoa pods and drop cocoa beans. They all pitch in to help the cocoa tree survive so
we can have cocoa beans!
