Super Street Fighter II X [3DO] - play as Balrog

Описание к видео Super Street Fighter II X [3DO] - play as Balrog

This is a play-through using Balrog (boxer) in the 3DO version of Super Street Fighter II X. Read on below for more information...

Balrog is the 1st of 4 bosses in this game. He is a regular playable character in it.

===== ABOUT BALROG =====
Probably the most famous fighting game boxer. In SF2WW (his debut into the franchise) he was clearly designed to reference Mike Tyson, and the chance of a potential lawsuit from him is the reason on why Capcom had to switch three of the bosses' names around for the non-Japanese versions of the franchise.

In comparison regarding his earlier SF2 appearances, in SSF2 he gained a whole load of new basic moves, a new special move and had his own voice. He really developed as a more rounded-out and flexible character. Then in SSF2T, he was given the option of low strikes for his dashing punches as well as two super moves.

===== ADDITIONAL INFORMATION =====

---- Being the 1st boss, he'll always appear as the 9th opponent when the player plays through single player mode.

---- Being a set boss character in single player mode, you get to have a mirror match against him if you select him as your character to play as.

---- The bosses are the only characters who do not have a unique "backwards" walking animation in the SF2 series.

---- He is known as M.Bison in Japan.

---- To determine him, fighting game players refer to him as "boxer".

---- Capcom implied a while ago that he is not 'Mike' from SF1.

---- When the CPU controls him, his Turn Punch special move is different to the player version one.

===== ABOUT 3DO SSF2X =====
The 3DO version of SSF2T is the first console port of the arcade game, and it is an excellent conversion. Being a 32-bit system means that the graphics can be (somewhat) faithful to the original... however the character sprites are not exactly 1:1 of the arcade ones because they are very slightly resized (fairly unnoticeable), and some characters are missing some frames of animation (for example T.Hawk's walking). Also, there are lesser colours and much lesser animations on most of the backgrounds, which suggests that the system's video RAM was scarce for the game. It should be noted that you cannot select the old SSF2 versions of the characters in this port.

The best thing about this port is the remixed music that comes with it... for me, I think it is one of the best instrumental styles Capcom have composed (which is sadly missing these days). If you've ever played Capcom Generation 5 on the PS1/Saturn and Hyper Street Fighter II Anniversary Edition on the PS2 and wondered where the remix tracks originated from, well now you know. (it's either the 3DO or the FM Towns version of SSF2)

Back then, I would imagine that this version of SSF2T was regarded as the best one before the PS1 and Saturn versions came along as part of the Street Fighter Collection.
