𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗮𝗵 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗶 - 𝗝𝗲𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗛𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗼𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻
𝘑𝘶𝘥𝘢𝘩 𝘏𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘷𝘪 (also Yehuda Halevi) 1074 – 1141 a Jewish physician, poet and philosopher. Considered as the greatest of all the medieval Hebrew poets and even the most important poet in Judaism of all times.

He was born to an enlightened family of means living in Muslim Spain and received a comprehensive education in both Hebrew and Arabic sources, encompassing the Bible, rabbinic literature, grammar, Arabic and Hebrew poetry, philosophy, theology, and medicine.
As a youth, he traveled to southern Spain (al-Andalus) and was quickly recognized for his poetic ability.

The life-work of Judah Halevi was devoted to poetry and philosophy. his poetry is divided into sacred and secular poetry. Judah's secular or non-liturgical poetry is occupied by poems of friendship, love, tenderness, humor, and eulogy.
his poetic corpus of secular and sacred works consists of over a thousand compositions which attest to an unrivaled mastery of national themes.
His songs of Zion are, perhaps, his most famous works.No Hebrew poet since Psalmists had sung the praises of the Holy Land with such passion.The longing for Zion, the pain of parting from his cultural environment, the perilous sea voyage - all these topics were uncommon in the poetry of the time.

רבי יהודה הלוי (ריה"ל) 1141-1075 משורר, פילוסוף ורופא, מגדולי המשוררים העבריים בימה״ב ואחת הדמויות הבולטות בתור הזהב של יהודי ספרד.
בשנת 1140 החליט להגשים את כמיהתו לעלות לארץ ישראל, ויצא למסע דרך מצרים.
אולם לא ידוע מה עלה בגורלו.
יש הטוענים שמת במצרים ויש הטוענים שהגיע לירושלים ושם מצא את מותו.

שיריו של ריה"ל זכו לפרסום רב ואף שולבו בתפילות. הם עוסקים בקודש וחול ויש בהם קינות, סליחות, פיוטים לשבת ולמועדים נוספים וכן שירי אהבה, חתונה ויין. הכיסופים לציון היו מוטיב בולט ביצירתו.

𝗘𝘁𝗶 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝘂𝗿𝗶
Eti Ester Guri is one of the most popular performers in Israel of Spanish music, flamenco songs and Spanish culture. In her performance to the poetry of Judah Halevi, she actually brought his poetry back to the place it was born and created, to the homeland of Judah Halevi.
Her arrangement gives the poem Spanish Andalusian characteristic and present the Jewish Spanish poetry in most authentic way.

אתי גורי היא אחת המבצעות המבוקשות בישראל של מוסיקה ספרדית מסורתית ושירת פלמנקו.
כשהיא בחרה לבצע פיוט של יהודה הלוי, החיבור היה טבעי ומתבקש.
היא למעשה החזירה את שירתו של ר׳ יהודה הלוי למקום בו נכתבה, לספרד המוסלמית.
בעיבוד המיוחד שלה היא מעניקה לפיוט אפיונים ספרדיים אנדלוסיים והופכת אותו לאותנטי ורלבנטי.

the poem starts with question of a woman to her beloved
𝘔𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦, 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘴?
Many of Jewish Hebrew medieval poems are characterized by sensual and erotic descriptions of love relations.
Torah scholars and commentators claim that similar to the descriptions of love in the Book of Song of Songs there is allegorical reading of that text which refers to the relationship of the Creator and the people of Israel.
In the poem there are words drawn from𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴 and obviously invokes the allegorical reading of that text which express the messianic redemption.

הפיוט נחשב לאחד מהפיוטים והפזמונים המוכרים והמרכזיים במסורתם של היהודים מקהילות ארם צובא, עיראק ומרוקו. נוהגים לפייטו בשביעי של פסח, בליל שבת ואף בחתונות.
הוא נכתב במאה האחת עשרה בספרד.
השיר נפתח בשאלה טעונה כלפי האהוב, ובכלליותו הוא מבטא את הכאב, המצוקה, הגעגועים הכיסופים אל הגאולה, אל ציון.
