Legend has it that "Fra Diavolo" was named for Michele Pezza, also known as 'Fra Diablo' (Friar Devil), who helped push Napoleon's forces out of Naples.

Recipe:

Olive oil
6 cloves of garlic, chopped
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
8 jumbo shrimp
10 mussels
4 pepperoncini peppers (jarred)
1lb fettuccini
16 oz tomato sauce
1/4 cup chopped Italian flat leaf parsley
Salt & pepper to taste
6 oz.canned scungilli
2-4 home made crostini
