Outer Hebrides Part 2 - Rubha Bheilis, North Uist to Arivruaich, Harris

We had a lazy start to day 3 as our camp spot was such an amazing place and we were visited by dolphins as we ate our breakfast. A truly wonderful start to the day!

We eventually headed off to get the ferry from Berneray to Harris. Another nice ferry ride as the weather was still stunning. The landscape on the east side of Harris was completely different to the terrain we had seen on the other islands. A ancient feeling landscape of rock and water. You can almost feel the glaciers scouring the landscape clean! We had a slightly shorter day due to the late start and ferry crossing and found a camp spot at Quidnish where Matt had been before. We had our first taste of the midges as the wind dropped in the evening.

Day 4 started with a ride to Tarbet for breakfast. We bumped into the group of cyclists that we camped with a couple of days previously and caught up on the news. Just after leaving Tarbet we found a couple of good off road tracks which broke up the road riding a bit. One was a lovely track along a loch and a good descent down from a pass. The other was a bogfest. We were pretty muddy after that one!

We kept going until we found a camp spot near a small waterfall as we needled to clean off after the muddy riding. A nice spot up on the moors with a decent breeze to keep the midges at bay. It was also time to decide our plans as the weather was forecast to deteriorate badly over the next few days.

Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching. 😁
