Repairing a Tenda Smart Plug: Fixing the Relay Click & No Power Issue

Описание к видео Repairing a Tenda Smart Plug: Fixing the Relay Click & No Power Issue

Welcome back to FixIt All Workshop! In this video, I’m diagnosing and fixing a common issue with the Tenda Smart Plug, which has stopped working. The only sign of life is a clicking sound from the relay, but there’s no Wi-Fi connection, no lights—just the clicking. Join me as I open it up to investigate and find the culprit: a dead electrolytic capacitor!

What You'll Learn:

Diagnosing the issue with a Tenda Smart Plug (relay clicking, no power or Wi-Fi)
How to visually inspect for faulty components (in this case, a swollen electrolytic capacitor)
Measuring the faulty capacitor’s value (from 470uF down to 40uF!)
Searching for a replacement capacitor from salvaged parts and testing it for proper ESR and capacitance
Replacing the capacitor and testing the plug to see if it works again

Why This is Important:

Many devices, including smart plugs, can fail due to faulty capacitors. Instead of discarding them, a simple capacitor replacement can often bring them back to life, saving you money and reducing electronic waste. This video shows how easy it can be to troubleshoot and repair these issues at home!

Tools & Materials Used:

Multimeter
ESR meter
Replacement capacitor (470uF, 108 degrees rated)
Soldering iron and desoldering tools
Screwdriver set (for disassembly)
