Wadi Shawka Pools Location 4KI No Secret I Near Shawka Dam I Family Friendly Hike UAE

Shawka is a village in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. It is a popular hiking destination, noted for the popular hiking areas around wadi Shawka and the Shawka Dam.

The Shawka pools offers a different experience to the shawka dam loop that takes you through the mountainous route. Just getting to experience what fresh water does to an area and the bio-diversity it supports, if left untouched is heart warming to observe.

I am certain being a weekday in December the shawka pools were pretty calm, as I came across only a handful of groups and even a large group of expat families with young kids. So it is a pretty family friendly activity, but you must be fairly fit and adventurous. J
Adult supervision is required if you plan to bring kids along. Please me mindful that this is a natural setting and not ' Wild Wadi Adventure Park', the Wadi is home to several species of birds, toads, fish, lizards and snakes (some venomous).

Getting to Shawka Pools is no secret , Google maps search gets you there quite easily. The easiest way, is to search directions to Emirates Adventure Camp. You can park your car outside the camp and start walking. Also download All Trails or the Wikiloc app to get a detailed map route of the hiking route. you cannot get lost on this trail, if you stick to the straight lines of the wadi base.
