Welcome to [eshu_cooking_vlogs1019]! In this video, I'll show you how to make delicious and aromatic Jeera Rice, a popular Indian rice dish seasoned with cumin seeds. This simple yet flavorful recipe is perfect as a side dish or a main course paired with your favorite curry or dal.
Here's a simple recipe to make Jeera Rice:

Ingredients:
- 1 cup Basmati rice
- 2 cups of water
- 1 tablespoon ghee or oil
- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds (jeera)
- 1 small bay leaf (optional)
- 1-2 cloves (optional)
- 1 small cinnamon stick (optional)
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. *Rinse and Soak the Rice:*
- Rinse the Basmati rice under running water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming sticky.
- Soak the rinsed rice in water for about 30 minutes. This helps the rice cook evenly.

2. *Cook the Rice:*
- Drain the soaked rice.
- In a pot, add 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt. Bring it to a boil.
- Add the soaked and drained rice to the boiling water.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a lid, and let it simmer for about 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
- Turn off the heat and let the rice sit, covered, for another 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork.

3. *Temper the Spices:*
- In a separate pan, heat the ghee or oil over medium heat.
- Add the cumin seeds. Let them splutter for a few seconds until they turn aromatic.
- If using, add the bay leaf, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Sauté for a few more seconds.

4. *Combine:*
- Add the cooked rice to the pan with the tempered spices.
- Gently mix everything together to ensure the rice is coated with the spices. Be careful not to break the rice grains.

5. *Garnish and Serve:*
- Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves if desired.
- Serve hot with curry, dal, or any side dish of your choice.
