Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2019 Tesla Model 3, we're going to be showing you how to install the Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver. Before we get into that though why don't we just take a minute, check this out and make sure it's going to work for you. Just because you got an EV doesn't mean you can't equip it with the trailer hitch and use accessories and do all different types of things. So there are hitches available for it. And with the Stealth Hitch, one of the coolest parts, at least in my opinion, is the receiver tube is going to be detachable.

That way when you're not using it your car's going to look completely factory on the back. You're not even going to be able to see the trailer hitch. And I feel like that's really important on a vehicle like the Tesla, you know, they're kind of futuristic and really sleek and if you could avoid having to have a hitch hanging back here, it's definitely the way to go, at least in my opinion. Whenever you are actually ready to use the hitch though, you're going to take a receiver tube and that's going to snap into the main body of the hitch which is located underneath here. And it's, you know, not extremely easy by any means.

It's simple how it works, kind of just lock it into place. But with this car riding so low, you know, you do have to kind of feel around for it and, you know, get it to actually work up into position there. But that little bit of extra effort in my opinion, is definitely worth it, being detachable and being able to be completely hidden. The receiver tube, when it is attached to everything, it is going to come out quite a ways and that's a good thing. And that's because it's going to give you a ton of clearance for folding type accessories.

You know, you're not going to have to worry about storing it upright and getting too close to the back of your Tesla. With that said, this particular setup here is only going to be rated to use accessories, bike racks and things along those lines. It's not rated to tow. But if you are planning on doing some towing, there's a whole package or kit available if you will that comes with this, it comes with a special ball mount that you can, you know, use with your trailer, as well as wiring too to power up all the lights. So that's something to check out if that's what you plan on doing.

Or let's say for now you plan on using a bike rack or something like that and you're unsure if you're ever going to need a tow, you can get this one and you can always kind of build off of it. So the future, if you do want to pull a trailer you can always get those other components separately and add them on and lie to get the job done. To compare this hitch to some of the other ones available for the Model 3, you know, they're all going to work and and get the job done, but to me I feel like it really is just going to depend on how you plan on using it. So for example, if you're going to be using it all the time every day, I could see this getting a little annoying from time to time with it coming out so far and you know, if you're using it a ton, are you really going to detach us every single day, more or less, when you're doing it Occasionally or if you're really, really concerned with the appearance, definitely the way to go. But like I said, if you're using it a lot there's some fixed type ones available that don't detach. Granted, you always see the hitch back there, a lot of them don't look too bad but, you know, at least it'll be there ready to go whenever you need it. And matter of fact, we have another Model 3 here today that has a fixed type hitch. So why don't me just go over there, check it out and give you a better idea. So this is a Draw-Tite, this does have the smaller inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter, so this is a little bit, you know, smaller in size. So keep in mind if you get the two inch by two inch bigger one, it is going to take up some more space and be a little bit more bulky. But just trying to give you an idea. As you can see it don't, you know, they're not going to come out quite as far and you know, always be there ready to use. So just keep that in mind. With the Tesla being an EV, it rides super quiet, you know, and you're more prone to hear rattling and things like that and some people could be worried about this clunking around whenever it's attached and that's not the case at all. There's a little bit of movement there but you're never going to hear that rattled or clunk or anything like that. So nothing really to sweat there. The receiver tube size is going to be
