I, Balin, son of Fundin, extend my heartfelt greetings. Alongside a fellowship of steadfast dwarves, I embarked on a daring quest - to reclaim our sacred homeland of Khazad-Dûm.

The tales of your triumphant reclaiming of Eregion, my lord, have been a beacon of hope amidst the shadows that loom over the Lonely Mountain. They have served as a testament that the indomitable spirit of our people still burns brightly. It is a reminder that we must not yield to the dominion of men or the menace of orcs, but instead, we can resurrect the ancient glories of our forefathers.

Regrettably, the path of our expedition has proven more arduous than we initially envisioned. Though we have succeeded in purging the eastern halls of Moria of the vile taint that plagued them, the western reaches remain elusive, infested by goblins, wargs, and ominous whispers of an even greater darkness.

My lord, while dwarves and elves have often stood apart in their endeavors, within the annals of history, there exists a luminous example of camaraderie. It was in the Gwaith-i-Mirdain that our ancestors, Celebrimbor and Narvi, discovered a profound respect and even a bond of friendship. Together, they wrought the majestic Doors of Durin, which to this day, stand as a sentinel guarding the Western gate of Moria.

With utmost humility, I beseech you, Lord Maernil, to rekindle this alliance. In return for your invaluable support in purging the ancient halls of Moria, you shall have the unyielding might of Khazad-Dûm at your side. Our warriors, fierce and resolute, shall fight alongside you against the relentless orcish hordes. Our skilled craftsmen and masterful smiths will labor tirelessly to restore the glory of the Gwaith-i-Mirdain. And, as a gesture of our unwavering commitment, we offer a treasury of Mithril, the precious metal of our ancestors, to arm your forces with the finest weapons and armor.

Let this alliance, born from the shared legacy of our forebears, be a symbol of our determination to confront the encroaching darkness and restore the resplendent halls of Moria and the bountiful lands of Eregion to their rightful glory.
