The Best (or Worst?) of the Franchise?: A Quiet Place: Day One (2024) Movie Review

👽🐈 Heeeeeeeeeey~! 🔇😭

Welcome back, movie lovers! I'm still tackling the list of movies that I need to catch up on and last week I didn't post my episode on FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA. I didn't want to fall behind so I ABSOLUTELY NEEDED to double post this week. So, I posted a poll to the community tab here on Youtube for you guys to vote on which movie I should talk about. Of course at the time of writing my episode A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE barely had the most votes. It was a close one and now Bad Boys: Ride or Die has pulled ahead! 😅 Well, this episode was done already but I will be talking about Bad Boys soon so stay tuned!

SOOooOoOoOoOoOO! A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE. Where do i begin? HOW ABOUT I TELL YOU GUYS HOW MUCH I CRIED DURING THIS MOVIE. I was appalled. Seriously though, Day One is an incredible story about life, death, survival and acceptance.
I was absolutely not ready for this movie aaaaaaaand I knew it within the first 10 minutes.

I saw so many negative reviews about this one and I was truly surprised. It really hit home for me (I explain more in the spoiler section of this episode) so it was even more surprising to me how . . . quickly it seemed like people were dismissing story elements in this movie. THAT SAID everyone has their own preferences and I think a lot of people were looking for something similar to the previous installments and IN THAT SENSE it missed the mark. I can totally understand that especially with my initial reaction to Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

I think if you're open minded to an incredible story and you're not:
1) Expecting this movie to be similar to A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II
2) Expecting to learn more about the aliens
3) Expecting a bunch of action

The movie is very much a personal story, a character drama, with the aliens in the background. There are plenty instances of excellent tension and suspense but this isn't a scary movie.

When New York City comes under attack from an alien invasion, a woman and other survivors try to find a way to safety. They soon learn that they must remain absolutely silent as the mysterious creatures are drawn to the slightest sound.
