Ep. 91 HOW I MAKE A STANDING BUTTERFLY MOSAIC and starting a 30"x30" mosaic!

I start with a 7 1/2" wide standing butterfly cut-out from Dollar Tree and some terrific blingy Van Gogh and mirrored glass. The base was spray painted black and Weldbond adhesive used. I prefer rounding most of the pieces and show how to nip a small circle shape from a square. Then I grouted the butterfly with black sanded grout and try out a new bronze Mica watercolor to add details to the Apoxie Sculpt body.
After the butterfly, I tackle prepping GoBoard for a larger 30"x30" stained glass and bead mosaic of sunflowers for a March exhibit. That gives me about two weeks to finish it! After all the small hearts and bead mosaics I've worked on lately, it feels good to tackle a bigger work again. I show how easy it is to cut GoBoard to size and add the hanging hardware. Then I transfer the design and am ready to begin.
I start the sunflowers with beadwork in the center of the flowers. I use mostly faceted and other beads that are on strands, pressing the beads into the adhesive and pulling the strand out. Each center is unique but with many of the same elements and overall design.
