Vlog / Mia Morris /Ep#11 “CMA Fest”/ Nashville Drummer, Multi-instrumentalist, Songwriter

CMA Fest 2019!! This was my second CMA Fest in Nashville and I ended up playing about 70 songs in 9 different shows for 18 different artists over a 4 day period. I certainly won’t list every artists and musician you’ll see but I’ll try to tell you who the artists are that are singing their songs. The first show with the Song Suffragettes inside the Music City Center includes songs by Raquel Cole, Livy Jeanne and Savannah Keyes. There are two shows with Bailey James and Haley Powers during the week and the set where I’m on the drum kit is for Lauren Weintraub. Next I do shows with Maddie Wilson and Olivia Ooms on the CMA’s Spotlight Stage. Back on the CMA Close Up Stage, you will hear songs from Cyndi Thompson, Stevie Woodward and Candi Carpenter. The two male artists I see at the HGTV stage are Hunter Hayes and Michael Ray. (Thank you Shantel!)

This run of gigs was sometimes chaotic, sometimes a little stressful and the best kind of work I know. I was so grateful to have the chance to play with so many talented people and the Country Music Association puts on a top notch festival and treats the musicians better than I’ve ever experienced before.

I’m 14 years old and I want to be a professional musician when I grow up. I try to play lots of instruments but the one that I feel most at home on is a drum set. I would say the only thing that impresses me more than a great musician is a great songwriter so I also spend some of my time trying to learn the magic of songwriting. I thought it would help me keep focused on music if I started a drum series where I learned a new song every couple of weeks. After 4 years, it’s now turned into a larger musical search but my goal hasn’t changed. Hopefully, I will keep doing it, keep loving music and keep getting better.
