Island Line (19-10-2020)

Описание к видео Island Line (19-10-2020)

Autumn has come to the Isle of Wight and has also come for the Class 483 units (formerly Northern Line 38ts) which has operated the line here since 1989.

Currently there are only two units available for traffic, 483006 & 483008. 483007 is currenly having an overhaul at Ryde St Johns Depot and it is hoped that it will be available for traffic for the last few weeks of Class 483 operation. From January 2021 to April 2021 the Island Line will be closed and upgraded for the 'new' Class 484 units (formerly London Underground D78 units) and a new passing loop will be installed at Brading.

This video is edited in the sequence in which the trains were filmed, and because of the nature of the service frequency (20 mins & 40 mins gaps) many locations are visited more than once at different times of the day.

We see all of the stations on the line as well as many of the foot crossing and footpaths that interact with the line.

The Class 483 units have served the line well, having been introduced in 1989 and prior to that having worked on London Transport's Northern Line. Fortunately most of the units will be preserved albeit not all in operational condition.

The Covid19 is at time of filming still ongoing so social distancing guidelines and face mask wearing were adhered to in the making of this video.
