Canter-Trot-Canter Transitions with Benson

This week, JJ and Benson break down this deceptively difficult exercise. We’ve all heard transitions, transitions, transitions. If you show, they are heavily weighted in your scores.

But WHY do we do them? And why does it matter how many strides between the canter-trot-canter? Well, this transition in particular brings a TON of suppleness to the horse’s back, and being able to count the strides and accurately aid your horse develops more control of the canter, which is directly related to executing a clean flying change.

Riding this transition well also brings your riding to the next level. You must be very precise in your position, weight aids, and timing to avoid confusion for your horse.
