Captain Cook's Endeavour Ship, Cleveland Centre. Middlesbrough Memories. Un-Seen Archive Footage!

In this video we are taking a look at the (sad) removal of the scale replica Endeavour Ship, sailed by the famous Captain Cook, from the Cleveland Centre Middlesbrough.

The ship was proudly displayed in 'Centre Mall' for nearly 20 years, finally being removed in 2005 to make way for a large retail development (as was the need at the time).

This recently discovered archive footage documents the careful removal of the model that took place over the months of May and June, 2005.

The ship was put into storage (allegedly) at Stewart Park before seeing the light of day once again in 2020 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of 'Cook's' landings in Australia and New Zealand (it also came out previous to this in 2017 to welcome the 'Tour De Yorkshire' but that's a story for another day).

The ship is now back in it's orignal home at the Cleveland Centre, albeit out of public view. Here's hoping it gets to make an appreance once again in the not so distant future!
