Sailing from Oriental, NC to Norfolk, VA

On this episode of 2 Women Sailing, storm clouds catch us in North Carolina before we head down the Alligator Pungo Canal. We put our repaired headsail back on our boat and learn what midges are. Spoiler alert, they are bugs that swarm and leave a green residue (poop) everywhere! It takes us an entire day to get rid of them.

From there we head into Virginia stopping at the free dock in Chesapeake and then transiting the Great Bridge Locks. It’s an easy and pleasant ride that goes from beautiful greenery to industrial and military gray, bringing us into Norfolk. Then we do what we do best, take in the sites of the city!

Thanks for tuning in to this leg of our journey. We hope you enjoy the ride!

We’re Vanessa and Sara and we’re taking a journey up the east coast of the United States on our Pearson 385 sailboat, Good Stories.

Join us as we sail to various ports of call, show you our DIY boat projects and teach you a little bit about sailing. You’ll enjoy the cruising life with us as we drop the hook in anchorages and tie up at marinas. Best of all, you’ll get to come aboard with Whip the Adventure Cat, our cuddly and charming Russian blue.
