To Make Tomato Bele Bath

Ingredient

Rice - 1/2 CUP
Toor Dal- 1/2 CUP
Water - 5 CUPS
Salt
Oil - 1 TBSP
Ghee - 1 TBSP
Chana Dal - 1 TSP
Urad Dal - 1 TSP
Cashew nuts
Mustard Seeds- 1 TSP
Cumin Seeds- 1 TSP
Hing / Asafoetida - 1 / 4 TSP
Ginger
Green Chilli – 2 NOS
Shallots - 1/2 CUP
Curry leaves
Tomato - 6 NOS
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 TSP
Chilli Powder - 2 TSP
Coriander Powder – 2 TSP
Salt - 1 TSP
Water - 2 CUPS
Coriander
Ghee



Method

To a bowl, take half cup of raw rice and half cup of thoor dal. Wash it nicely, pour enough water and soak it for 30 minutes.
Transfer the soaked rice and dal to a pressure cooker and add five cups of water. Use the same cup used for measuring the rice and dal.
Add salt, mix well and close the pressure cooker, place the weight and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
After 4 whistles once the pressure is released, transfer the cooked dal and rice to a bowl.
To a kadai, add oil and ghee and add channa dal, urad dal, cashew nuts and fry to a golden brown colour.
Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafetida powder, chopped ginger, chopped green chilies and saute well.
Add half cup of shallots and saute and add curry leaves and mix well.
Add six chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and salt and mix well all together.
Pour two cups of water and let it boil till the raw smell goes.
After five minutes, add the cooked dal and rice gradually and mix well.
Keep the flame on low and cook.
Add chopped coriander leaves and ghee and mix well.
Tasty tomato bele bath is ready to be served nice and hot with fried potato and papad by the side.
