More SLC Sightseeing: Saltair and Heber Valley RR

Описание к видео More SLC Sightseeing: Saltair and Heber Valley RR

Last weekend (Sep. 21, 2024) I went to ride on the Heber Valley Railroad. I figured I should do so while I'm still living in Salt Lake City. Having rented a car for the day, I decided to first pay a visit to The Great Saltair, another place I hadn't visited beforehand in spite of my living in SLC for 2.5 years. On my way over to Heber City, I happened to drive by Salt Lake City's Stadler plant, where a few more CalTrain electric sets were still being built, tested, etc.

Then I finally get to Heber about 90 minutes before my train's departure, so I take in the station and a little bit of the yard. Moments later, it was time to board. My train, dubbed the Deer Creek Express, takes riders to the Deer Creek Reservoir and back, all in under 2 hours. Along the way, the guides talk about a few landmarks on the route, including a stop built for the Salt Lake winter games in 2002 (because the skiing events were held along the Wasatch Back). If I get to go again, I'll have to take one of their other excursions.

As always my inspirations are:
