Over time, it began to transform and evolve from only currency and stamps, particularly with the rise of social media and widespread use of Facebook. Curiosity grew, leading more people to visit and explore the place. Over time, the market expanded from just currency and stamps to include antiques and then used items. Today, it has evolved into a comprehensive market offering a wide range of items, from A to Z."

STORYLINE:
Each week, collectors and antique enthusiasts flock to Cairo’s Diana Antiques Market to indulge in their passion and trade unique finds.

Near Diana Palace Cinema, from which the market takes its name, antique dealers display their vintage products along both sides of the street.

Held every Saturday, the market attracts visitors from across Cairo and beyond, drawn by the nostalgic atmosphere it offers.

The market offers a glimpse into a bygone era with vintage items such as telephones, photographs, cameras, coins, and even furniture from decades past.

Driven by a sense of nostalgia, this is what makes people eager to visit the market, explained Hassan Abeed, an antiques dealer.

The story of the market began with collectors of old currency and stamps who used to meet weekly in coffee shops to trade their collections.

Over the years, the area evolved into an open market for antiques and vintage items, according to antique dealer Mostafa al-Ahwal.

"The market expanded from just currency and stamps to include antiques and then used items," he added. "Today, it has evolved into a comprehensive market offering a wide range of items, from A to Z."
