Transient shaping isn’t a whole lot different from peak limiting with one exception. With a transient designer you have the option to emphasize the peak of the transient instead of just bringing it down. This is a very useful effect for drum sounds, anything plucked, or any sound that has a well defined transient.

Again I would recommend comparing the sound of using just clip gain, the peak limiter, and the transient shaper to figure out what you sonically prefer. There’s always more than one way to get the same result when you’re working with digital audio.
