SKOMER or BUST - Part 1 eKayaking the North Coast of Isla Fabulosa

Описание к видео SKOMER or BUST - Part 1 eKayaking the North Coast of Isla Fabulosa

I have been wanting to kayak to the island of Skomer for around three years, since I first started coastal kayaking.
I kayaked from Martin's Haven across Jack Sound to the North Coast of Skomer.
Of course, I have read about Jack Sound, and was aware of it's dangers...but the allure of Skomer and it's Puffin (and other sea-bird) colonies was too great.

I visited the island 40 years ago, on a day's outing on the island. Now it was the time for the view from the sea, which I knew would be far more spectacular.
(This idea was cemented by my experience at Old Harry Rocks in Dorset).
It certainly was more spectacular, as this video will show.

Unfortunately, the most spectacular footage was mostly on the phone camera** that I always have mounted at the front of my kayak. I say unfortunately, as it was consumed by Jack and his Sound!

(See Part 2 to find out what happened, COMING SOON!).

I ALMOST GET DRAGGED SOUTHWARDS AT THE FAR NORTH-WESTERN END, IN BETWEEN THE ISLAND AND THE LARGE ROCK THERE. THIS GAVE ME A QUICK PEAK AT THE MAGNIFICENT WEST SIDE OF SKOMER...enticing!

I AM IN AWE OF THE FABULOUS ISLAND (AND IT'S BREEDING COLONIES OF SEA-BIRDS), THAT I AM, AT LAST, KAYAKING (AT LEAST PART OF THE WAY) AROUND.

**Phone cameras are not restricted to an ultra-wide lens as action cameras are, resulting in being able to get a considerably more close-up, intimate and impactful image..though of course, not when a wide angle shot is wanted!

PS. The large blue bag in front of me resting on the left side of the Kayak contains my DSLR with 150-600mm lens. This is what I took the photos (at the end of this video) with.

My sincere gratitude at being able to use the beautiful music that has enhanced the video so much.
