Margherita Pizza or Pizza Margherita as it also known, is named after the Queen Margherita of Savoy, who was sick of eating the French food and ordered something special to be made for her. Then the Margherita Pizza was created for her that had the colours of Italy over it- red, green & white! She loved it and the Margherita Pizza was named after her!
Margherita Pizza is a simple pizza where the sauce is topped with mozzarella cheese and then basil leaves only.
The perfect pizza comes from the perfect dough! And the perfect Margherita Pizza too comes from the perfect dough too! So I am sharing the recipe of the perfect pizza dough and Margherita Pizza for the ultimate pizza that can be easily made at home.

Recipe :
Margherita Pizza
Preparation Time: 30 minutes + 1 hour
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 3-4

Ingredients:

Pizza Dough:
2 cups Flour + for dusting
1 tsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
2 tbsp Olive oil
Water ad needed

For the topping:
Pizza Sauce
Mozzarella Cheese
Basil Leaves

Method:
Dissolve the sugar in ¼ cup lukewarm water. Add the yeast and mix well. Allow to stand undisturbed for 20 minutes till the yeast is froth. Add the salt to the flour. Mix in the yeast and sufficient water to knead a smooth soft dough. Knead the dough for at least 8-10 minutes till it smooth and stretchy.
Add 1 tbsp olive oil and knead till all oil is incorporated in the dough.
Apply oil all over the dough and rest the dough for about an hour till the dough doubles in size. Punch the dough and break cricket sized balls of the dough. Roll out the dough to a t6hickness of ½”. Spread the pizza sauce and cover with mozzarella cheese.
Bake in a preheated oven at a temperature of 200C for 20-25 minutes.
Remove, brush with olive oil and top with basil leaves. Serve.
