In this video I will show you how to make minced beef and onion pie. This is a delicious recipe. I'll show you how to make the pie crust and then the minced beef filling. This ground meat or mince pie is simple to makes for very cost effective baking.

Here is the whole recipe:

Filling.

250g Mince 1.67
1 Onion 0.09
Celecy 0.06
Stock 0.12
Black pepper 0.02
75ml water 0.00
2 tsp corn flour 0.04

Pastry

200g plain flour 0.10
50g butter 0.37
50g Lard 0.10
Pinch of salt 0.00
5 tbsp cold water 0.00

Total cost 2.53


3 pies @ 0.84


Filling.

Chop the onion and celery and fry over a low heat until soft.
Add the mince and fry until browned.
Add the stock cube and stir in well.
Add the water and cornflour and let it simmer for about 10 mins or until it thickens.
Allow the filling to cool.

Pastry.

Chill the butter and lard.
Rub it into the flour and salt until it becomes a breadcrumb consistency.
Add the water and cut it in with a knife or spatula.
Bring it together lightly and roll into a ball.
Put it in the fridge for 2 hours.
Roll out and line your tin or tins.


Combination.

Line the bottom of the dishes.
Fill with the cooled filling.
Put the lids on.
Crimp and egg wash

Bake in the oven at 170c for 25mins
