This 1984 song belonging to the Romanian hard rock band Iris was released on the group's debut album, "Iris I", the first heavy metal album in the history of Romanian rock music. "On the Water" along with "Trenul fără naş" ("The Train Without Its Master") are two of the most known songs created in the 80's period and they are performed to this day, at almost each concert. These songs were written in 1983, in a period in which Iris was part of Cenaclul Flacăra (lead by the national poet Adrian Păunescu). Although "On the Water" is an old song, it is well known by the new generations of rock fans from Romania. "On the Water" refers to the trope of life seen as a "game", which is not tough to play if we remain "children" with "clean" souls. This song is influenced by the AC/DC style, which Iris adopted in the early days. It's easy to notice that the main guitar riff is influenced by the Angus Young's style of playing the guitar. This video contains the live performance of "On the Water" from "Iris 20 Years" anniversary concert, held in 1997.
