‘The Frostmarch Expansion for Talisman’ - Fantasy Board Game Review

The Ice Queen has crossed the icy waters and wants to reek havoc on the races of Talisman.

The Bottled Imp takes a detailed look at the Talisman Revised 4th Edition expansion 'The Frostmarch'. Will you manage to slay the Ice Queen before she freezes your blood?

This mini expansion for the base game of Talisman offers players four new characters: Warlock, Leprechaun, Necromancer, and Ogre Chieftain and comes with their own plastic figures (of which I have painted!) plus corresponding character stats cards. Just who is best to tackle the cold, heartless Ice Queen?

The main component of The Frostmarch is the 24 Warlock Quest Cards. Instead of rolling a die to see what quest you must complete to claim your Talisman; players draw the top card from the deck. Quests range from ‘Kill One Spirit’, ‘Deliver One Magic Object’, ‘Gain One Strength’, to ‘Take One Life From Another Character’. With twenty-four Warlock cards players have more choice of exciting quests to attempt. And that’s a good thing!

Also in this mini box are 84 Adventure cards, 20 Spell cards, and 3 Alternative Ending cards. There’s plenty excitement to explore. The three Alternative Ending cards changes the way players win the game. Replacing the normal base game conditions, these new cards explain new winning conditions the winner-elect will have to defeat in order to win.

Will you have to fight the deadly Ice Queen? The thought sends shivers down my back.
