Dispute over burial ground in Churachandpur; Protesters clash with security personnel

A sea of people from various places in Imphal Valley descended upon Manipur's Bishnupur district on Thursday, engaging in a heated confrontation with security personnel. The protestors had gathered to express their strong condemnation over the Kuki community's program to bury 35 people from the tribal community on a farmland allegedly owned by the state government.

The situation escalated as protesters stormed the district, voicing their concerns and vehemently opposing the burial process. Emotions ran high, and the authorities had to intervene by firing teargas shells to prevent the situation from spiralling out of control. A blockade at Phougakchao Ikhai area was also put in place to prevent the protestors from advancing any further.

Several protesters suffered minor injuries during the commotion. Further updates on the incident are awaited.
