130 Year Old Wine: All About Madeira!

Описание к видео 130 Year Old Wine: All About Madeira!

In this video, we’re taking a sip of history in the form of two bottles of 100+ year old Madeira. We got our hands on Henriques & Henriques 1894 Founders Solera and 1898 Verdelho Solera at a wine auction. Bottled in 2010 and 2011, these wines are truly one of a kind and only 760 bottles were made of the Founders Solera and 1,840 bottles of the Verdelho Solera.

Madeira used to be one of the most popular wines and was shipped to every corner of the world in the 17-and-18 hundreds. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson drank Madeira consistently and the wine was the drink of choice for anyone in the upper social classes.

We take a look at the history of Madeira, both the wine and the island, and along with our expert sommelier, Stacey, we review these particularly great bottles. What will 130 year-old wine taste like? Find out and let us know about your experiences with old wines in the comment section below.

Cheers!

P.S.
Thank you so much to Henriques & Henriques for providing us with original videos and photos, along with specific data on the wines.
