Woodchopper's Ball - The Rare Take "B" - Woody Herman Orch. 1939

"Woodchopper's Ball" was probably the most recorded and recognizable song associated with clarinetist Woody Herman. However, it's not likely that most have heard this alternate version. As far as I can determine it was only reissued once on an obscure Italian LP label. The common take has been reissued countless times on LP and CD. Also, the rare take was issued on Decca 78 rpm records with the same release number as the "A" take but seemingly in smaller quantity. In the video slide you can see the take number stamped in the upper left corner of the dead wax. The "B" take is hard to find. There are several audible differences with the common take; see if you can identify them. Enjoy this rarity!
