Field test to measure your maximum heart rate (this is HARD, be sure that you are healthy enough for this type of activity before performing):
-Warm up for about 20 minutes, depending on your fitness level.
-Run one mile at tempo pace.
-Build the tempo pace for 1/4 mile.
-Go 1/4 mile as fast as you can until you feel you're at you maximum effort.
The highest number recorded is your maximum heart rate.
