This is the first of six violin sonatas composed in 1778, in two movements, with the speed designation Allegro con spirito for the first movement and Allegro for the second.
The second movement is written in rondo form, with a light theme in G major appearing repeatedly.
This theme is brief, of eight bars, and is played alternately by violin and piano.
The music progresses as the violin and piano intertwine, and Mozart's youthful and cheerful musicality is on full display in this work.
