Listen together the 1st movement!    • Eimi Wakui|Mozart: Violin Sonata No. ...

This is the first piece of six sonatas, known as the 'Mannheim Sonatas', composed by the 22-year-old Mozart in Mannheim in 1777-78.
It is a duet for piano and violin, and explores a new style in which the two are treated as equals, rather than in the form of the piano playing the leading role and the violin accompanying it.
All but the sixth, in D major (K.306), are in two movements.

This piece was originally conceived as a flute piece, but was changed to violin. The first movement begins with a bright, sing-songy theme, with the violins playing a flowing melody. The second movement alternates between a Siciliano-style section in G minor and a rondo-like section with the piano playing the theme. Influenced by Schuster, the Elector's court music director, but with his own individuality on full display, the sonata collection was presented by Mozart directly to the Electress on 7 January 1779 in Munich.
