Hiking Cave Creek Arizona's Black Mountain

Описание к видео Hiking Cave Creek Arizona's Black Mountain

Hi,

This video trail guide takes you on the 1.1 mile hike to the top of Black Mountain near Cave Creek, Arizona. There's a nice honorary flag and plaque at the summit dedicated to the those who have or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The trail is rated as "Difficult," as the surface is rugged and rocky with very steep elevation gains. I hiked this trail at 5:45 a.m. on a Sunday in June, which allowed me to see the sunrise over the mountains to the east--spectacular views!

Things to Know:
Trail Hours: 24/7
Distance: 2.2 miles (round trip) + walking from the parking area
Difficulty: Difficult
Elevation Gain: ~1,200 ft
Time: 1 hr. 45 minutes round trip
Parking: Limited parking is located about one third of a mile from the trailhead. A small parking lot is located on the north side of Mark Way and there are also a few spots on Military Road and Schoolhouse Road. Since the trailhead is located in a residential area, parking is not permitted south of Military Road.

**Restrooms and water are not available near the parking area or trailhead, however, there are restaurants, gas stations and other retail stores nearby in the town of Cave Creek.

This is probably one of the most difficult hikes I've done in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. It's not as difficult as Camelback Mountain or Piestewa Peak--but it's close.

I hope this guide helps you plan your Black Mountain hike!

- Mike
