Cairngorms loop final day

Day five, Edendon Water to Aviemore

After a comfortable night camping at Edendon Water we headed off on the final day of our trip. It was another day of mixed weather conditions and we were expecting to get wet again at some point!

After passing Sronphadruig Lodge we started climbing up to Loch an Duin. We came across the last DofE group of the trip here, we’d seen quite a few groups over the five days we’d been out and it was great to see. After a brief chat we moved on, the single track here was quite enjoyable and took us along Loch Bhrodainn and eventually to the double track along Loch an t-Seilich.

From here our route would be trending downhill as we came away from the mountains into a more open landscape. We started to see some forest as we rode down Glen Tromie before branching off and starting to head back to Aviemore.

The rain joined us from this point which seemed quite fitting as it had been a wet trip over all. We were back in familiar territory as we had ridden the same trails a couple of days earlier at Ballintean. The track along the river Feshie was as enjoyable as it had been the last time, although not as sunny!!

Next stop was Feshiebridge and then it was mostly road riding back to Aviemore.

We finished in the rain which seemed appropriate!! Overall it had been a great trip, the only real negative was the section of trail around the refuge at Avon. Not somewhere I want to ride again. 😬 But a great trip with Matt once again.
