Maya matrix node space switch tutorial

Описание к видео Maya matrix node space switch tutorial

This video goes over setting up a space switch using maya's matrix nodes instead of constraints.

* NOTE: at about 15 minutes in, I mention that you can use a setAttr on the choice node inputs with the matrix data for an offset matrix... Unfortunately this is incorrect - while you can connect a matrix type plug into the choice node's inputs, it will not allow you to set matrix data... So you will have to create a matrix attr somewhere in your hierarchy to store those offsets. I try my best to ensure I'm providing correct information in all my videos by testing things out first, but occasionally something like this slips through the cracks. I'm so sorry for the confusion...

In the video, I briefly go over what a space switch is within a rig, and show a common/traditional way of creating a space switch as well as a way to create the same effect using matrix nodes for a cleaner hierarchy and non-cyclical node network. Toward the end, I also describe a method you could use to actually blend between the spaces instead of abruptly switching if you really want to use that; however, it will bloat the node network a little and ultimately isn't necessary if you have a tool for matching the driven item's world space position and orientation between the spaces during a switch.

This is kind of a followup to my previous video about how to create a constraint using matrix nodes (   • Custom maya matrix node constraint ri...  ) - this basically just expands on it a little bit.
