-------------------------------------------------DESCRIPTION-------------------------------------------------

Dino crisis 2 was a bit of a departure from the survival horror formula Capcom had been riding up until this point. Ammunition is virtually unlimited, provided the player can obtain points from killing enemies. A greater emphasis was placed on action, combat and racking up combos than survival horror. Enemies will usually spawn when the player moves from one fixed angle to another, easily exploiting it to gain high combos. Achieving a combo of 20 or higher will spawn blue raptors in the next room which are much tougher, and give out 7000 points a piece. Given the fixed camera angles along with action orientated gameplay, it could be argued that Dino Crisis 2 is the father of franchises like the Devil May Cry and Onimusha series.

As a child, Dino crisis 2 became my favourite alongside resident Evil. With fewer puzzles to trump my tiny little mind, I would rarely get stuck and enjoyed playing these titles over and over, tying to get a higher score or more Dino files. My biggest complaint with this title is the requirements to get an S rank. Whereas other titles by Capcom had a scoring system based on a number of factors such as time spent, healing used, enemies killed, here the only requirement is time. Complete it under 2 hours to get an S. This forces players to speed run the game, which runs counter to the combo game play in my opinion. It would be nigh impossible to get an S whilst still gaining enough points to unlock all weapons and Items, which I felt would make for an inferior Walkthrough.

Sadly, we would not see Dino crisis 3 until 2003, with a lacklustre title which seemed to kill off most interest. Whilst there was an odd, yet strangely enjoyable spin off in Dino stalker, this would be the second and last time we see Regina. Still, in an era which sees more reboots than original IP's, I have my fingers crossed that we might one day see a return to this classic.
