Handovers in 5G

Описание к видео Handovers in 5G

In lay person's terms, a handover is what happens to an active call when the user moves from one location to another. Phone is connected to a tower (aka base station) but as the signal gets weaker, the cellular system automatically finds an alternative tower and initiates the handover. Handover attempts to preserve call quality and prevent call drops.

This talk will describe 5G handover for the lay person. After that, we'll introduce the technical jargon relevant to handovers. We see the different types of handovers, signalling flows, associated timers, and relevant measurements. This talk will be useful for telecom professionals at all levels. Because we'll start with the basics, even non-telecom folks will be able to appreciate the content.
