Описание к видео How To Flush Your Heating System Using The Outside Tap!

How to flush a heating system using your outside tap and a garden hose. In this step-by-step guide I show you how to remove sludge, clean radiators and improve central heating performance without a power flush machine.

I’ve decided to remove the radiator as this is gonna be the most common option in most houses you can connect onto a magnetic filter which already has two isolation valves if needed but generally you will find a radiator close to an outside door and a outside tap.

To be able to do a mains flush I’m working on a pressurised system which is closed if you have a vented system then you will have to cap off the event and also isolate the cold feed or you will be sending mains water up into the head attack and you could cause it to overfill and even flood.

Once you’ve worked out which radiator you want to remove simply turn off the valves over side open up the air vent and if no more water comes out, then you know that the valves are doing their job. If you have water constantly flowing and this is the only radiator that you want to connect onto, then you will have to perform a full drain down and replace the valves as they are faulty.

Once you’re happy that your valves are isolating this radiator you can then start undoing the side close to the radiator on the valve and drain that radiator out. If you have a drain point on the lock shield side then you can drain it that way but the goal is to remove the radiator so we can connect onto the valves.

To be able to connect onto these I’m using a series of fittings with hose lock adapters. You don’t need this but it makes my life easier as I’m going to be using this kit over and over again in theory you just need a spare radiator lock shield valve to use a tail and then you can adapt to copper using a female iron. I’ve installed isolation valves which make things easier for me and then I’ve connected a hose pipe using hose lock fittings onto a special drain valve from Tesla.

To avoid over pressure rising the system if you have a closed end, I’ve adapted to include a pressure reducing valve on the way through as this will constantly limit me to one bar pressure, I can always increase this if I want to.

The thermostat side mainly is just a nut and olive connection which makes things nice and simple. You can either just put a hosepipe over the top of some copper pipe with a jubilee clip or like me using a set of fittings to make my life easier.

With the valve tail site made up and connected, we need one pipe to go to a drain and the other to connect onto your garden tap. Once these are all connected, we can turn on the flow valve to the outside tap turn them on and open the drain point and that shit give you mains water going up through your heating system and back down again. to get the best results you need to do one radiator at a time so shut off all the radiators on the system apart from one on the thermostat side which makes it easy and let the water flow through that single radiator for about 5 to 10 minutes and then open up your next one and close off the previous until you’ve done all the radiators on the system.

With all the radiators flushed, you can simply do everything in reverse and once you’ve got the radiator put back on I like to add more inhibitor through the event as we’ve in theory replaced all the water inside your heating system with fresh cold.

Hopefully this gives you a bit of an insight on how you can flush a heating system just by using your outside tap you don’t need a fancy power flesh machine and this is definitely something that you can make up with yourself some confidence and a bit of hands on effort.
