Today we will be talking about the new Compact Expedition North Pole watches from Vostok Europe. They are professional dive watches with amazing features.

It is important to note that as with every Vostok Europe watch, these have an interesting story behind them. The Expedition North Pole One is actually the name of a floating ice station that the Soviets used in the 1930s. It was a scientific vessel that collected data as it floated along for about nine months. A photo depicting this expedition is etched on the back of these Vostok Europe watches.

Now for some specifics about the Expedition watches. The movements are either NH35 or VK64. It's important to note right away that the Expedition case has always been so popular with our customers because it arguably has the cleanest, simplest, most straightforward design of any of our watches. In addition, the strap is triple layered leather.

The Expedition watches also have the K1 mineral-crystal system, known as gorilla glass. Gorilla glass is directly between sapphire and mineral on the Mohs scale. Sapphire is nine, and mineral is five. Gorilla glass is a seven. So you get nearly the scratch resistance of Sapphire and nearly the shatter resistance of mineral.
