सराय लश्करी खान :--

यह सराय 12 किमी की दूरी पर स्थित है। खन्ना के पश्चिम में, जी.टी. रोड, लुधियाना जिले में। इसके पूर्वी प्रवेश द्वार पर शिलालेख के अनुसार, यह सराय मुगल सैन्य जनरल लश्कर खान द्वारा सम्राट औरंगजेब के शासनकाल के दौरान 1080 एएच/1669-70 ईस्वी में बनवाया गया था। यह 165 मीटर है। चौकोर घेरा जिसमें पूर्वी और पश्चिमी किनारों के मध्य में दो मंजिला प्रवेश द्वार हैं। केंद्रीय धनुषाकार उद्घाटन, जो पत्थर का है, दो मंजिला ट्रिपल उद्घाटन से घिरा हुआ है। प्रत्येक द्वार के शीर्ष पर सफेद संगमरमर के स्लैब पर उत्कीर्ण एक शिलालेख है। अष्टकोणीय गढ़। प्रवेश द्वारों को उधार शक्ति और अनुग्रह को गुंबददार मंडपों के साथ ताज पहनाया जाता है। प्रवेश द्वार पर चबूतरा के कोनों को चौथाई खंभों के रूप में नक्काशीदार पत्थर से संरक्षित किया गया है। कुछ अन्य निचले हिस्से भी मोटे तौर पर नक्काशीदार पत्थरों से पंक्तिबद्ध हैं। सराय के प्रांगण में प्रत्येक तरफ 30 कमरे हैं, यानी गेटवे के दोनों ओर 15 और उत्तरी और दक्षिणी दीवारों में केंद्रीय उच्च डिब्बों के प्रत्येक तरफ समान संख्या में हैं। प्रत्येक कमरे का माप 3.3 मी. वर्गाकार और सामने 2.5 मीटर गहरे बरामदे वाले एक सपाट धनुषाकार उद्घाटन के माध्यम से प्रवेश किया जाता है। एक विशेष विशेषता जिसमें यह अन्य सरायों से विचलित होती है, वह है उत्तरी और दक्षिणी दीवारों के मध्य में बुर्जों का अभाव और आंतरिक भाग पर कमरों की व्यवस्था। इस भाग के अनुरूप। इस मामले में बीच में एक ढका हुआ बरामदा 7.8 मीटर है। चौड़ा और 3.7 मी. गहरा, जिसके प्रत्येक तरफ 4.0 मीटर का एक कमरा है। 7.5 मी. और एक बार बरामदे में और दो बार सराय के आंगन में, अर्थात् प्रत्येक कमरे में तीन द्वार हैं। बरामदे का अग्रभाग, तीन नुकीले धनुषाकार उद्घाटनों द्वारा छेदा गया, तीन खंभों पर टिका हुआ है। आंगन के प्रत्येक कोने में एक पाँच मीटर वर्गाकार कमरा है जिसमें प्रत्येक दीवार में अर्ध-अष्टकोणीय अवकाश है। इसके बरामदे से सीढि़यों की दो उड़ानें। दोनों तरफ एक, छत की ओर जाता है। प्रांगण के दक्षिणी भाग में एक मस्जिद है, जिसके गुंबद उखड़ गए हैं। सराय में दो कुएं हैं, जिनका उपयोग वर्तमान में सराय की पूरी भूमि की सिंचाई के लिए किया जा रहा है जो लंबे समय से खेत के रूप में विनियोजित है।

Sarai Lashkari Khan :--

This sarai is situated 12 km. to the west of Khanna, on the G.T. Road, in the district of Ludhiana. According to the inscription on its eastern gateway, this sarai was erected by Lashkar Khan, a Mughal Military General, during the reign of emperor Aurangzeb, in 1080 A.H./1669-70 A.D. It is a 165 m. square enclosure having double storeyed gateways in the middle of the eastern and the western sides. The central arched opening, which is of stone, is flanked by two storeys of triple openings . At the top of each gate runs an inscription engraved on white marble slabs. The octagonal bastions. lending strength and grace to the gateways are crowned with domed pavilions. Corners of the plinths on the gateway are protected by stone carved in the form of quarter pillars. Some other lower parts, too, are lined with roughly carved stones. The courtyard of the sarai has 30 rooms on each side, i.e., 15 on either side of the gateways and an equal number on each side of the central higher compartments in the northern and the southern walls. Each room measures 3.3 m. square and is entered through a flat arched opening having 2.5 m deep verandah in front. One particular feature in which it deviates from the other sarais, is the absence of bastions in the middle of the northern and the southern walls and the arrangement of rooms on the interior. corresponding to this portion. In this case in the middle is a covered verandah 7.8 m. broad and 3.7 m. deep, on each side of which is a room measuring 4.0 m. by 7.5 m. and opening once into the verandah and twice into the courtyard of the sarai, i.e., each room has three doorways. The facade of the verandah, pierced by three cusped arched openings, rests on three piers. In each corner of the courtyard is a five-metre square room having semi-octagonal recess in each wall. From its verandah, two flights of steps. one on either side, leads to the roof. In the southern half of the courtyard is a mosque, the domes of which have crumbled. There are two wells in the sarai, at present being used for irrigation of the entire land of the sarai which has been appropriated as a farm since long.
