In this video from Partzilla.com, we’re rebuilding the top end on a 2016 YXZ1000R as part of a larger engine rebuild project in which we're converting this unit to a YXZ1000R turbo.

With the bottom end assembled and the turbo kit yet to come, we’re putting together the top end of our YXZ1000R. We’re reusing this head, so first up will be the removal of the old studs since we want to get new ones all the way around for this project. Unfortunately, old, corroded studs don’t always cooperate, and we had to take a detour to remove a broken stud and then rehab the hole for the stud with a Time Sert.

With the old studs out and new ones installed, we can get into installing the new valves on our YXZ1000. This head spent some time at a machine shop, but we'll still take a few extra minutes to hone our valve guides to make sure they’re clean. Then, we’ll install our valve seats and seals, and then drop the valves in. We don’t have to lap these valves since the machine shop was nice enough to knock out that part of the job for us. We’ll wrap up this part of the project by installing our valve springs and keepers.
