Electric Field of a Dipole | Equatorial line and Along the Axis | Hindi

Описание к видео Electric Field of a Dipole | Equatorial line and Along the Axis | Hindi

Finding expression for Electric field due to dipole on equatorial line and comparision with field along the axis of dipole.

An electric dipole is a pair of equal and opposite point charges q and –q, separated by a distance 2a. The line connecting the two charges defines a direction in space. By convention, the direction from –q to q is said to be the direction of the dipole. The mid-point of locations of –q and q is called the center of the dipole.

The electric field of a pair of charges at any point in space can easily be found out from Coulomb’s law & the superposition principle.

We use them to find Electric Field for the following two cases:
• When the point is on the dipole axis AND
• When it is in the equatorial plane of the dipole, i.e., on a plane perpendicular to the dipole axis through its center.
